Prepare related JSON fixtures and inspect sample-shape changes

Keep the distinction between a sample and a contract visible. You can preserve relationships while replacing selected fixture fields, then inspect observed response changes without claiming that two samples describe the entire API.

For: Developers preparing examples, regression fixtures or integration reviews.

A useful starting sequence

  1. Start with synthetic related customer and order fixtures and define which identifiers must stay consistent.
  2. Run the masking example, inspect the shared relationship and review every field before sharing the result.
  3. Compare observed response shapes when you lack a schema. Use schema tools when a reliable schema is available.

One concrete example

A synthetic order refers to a customer identifier. Replacing the two identifiers independently breaks the example. Apply one mapping to the related fields, then inspect the relationship; selected-field replacement does not prove that every sensitive field was removed.

Start with a free alternative when it fits

A small mapping script may be sufficient for a one-off fixture. Ajv is useful when a JSON schema exists, and oasdiff compares OpenAPI specifications. ContractLens only reports observed sample differences.

Ajv schema validation. These independent downloads are not endorsed by the linked providers.

Do I need to buy every tool in this group?

No. Run the relevant free example first. Buy one prepared workflow only if its contents and requirements match your current task. The group is a navigation guide, not an additional bundle or subscription.

What does a successful example prove?

It shows the named synthetic behavior in the documented environment. It does not certify a production application, establish compatibility with every editor or substitute for your own integration tests.
